Two Parowan boys entered military service this week. Boyd L. Mitchell, son of Mr and Mrs O Mitchell, left Friday for Fort Ord California. He rode with Dan Boles who heads to Casper Wyoming. Clarence Benson Junior departed Monday for Salt Lake City and was reportedly sent to Fort Riley Kansas.

Parowan Stake Conference Set for November 11–12

Parowan Stake Quarterly Conference scheduled for November 11 and 12, announced by Stake President W. Clair Rowley. Events include a priesthood leadership session Saturday evening in West Ward, general sessions at 10 am and 2 pm Sunday in East Ward Church, and an MLA meeting Sunday evening with details to be announced. East Ward choir to provide much of Sunday music.

Sorenson Marriage in Logan Temple California Bride Weds

Kath leen Ann Fornoff daughter of Dr and Mrs Homer Fornoff announces her marriage to Lionel Winton Sorenson Jr son of Dr and Mrs L W Sorenson. Rites were in the Logan Temple Oct 6 officiated by President Christensen. Guests included the groom’s parents and relatives, the bridal couple flew to Salt Lake City, then returned to Bay City for a reception Oct 7 at the bride’s home. The bride, attired in white satin with veil and bouquet, and the groom celebrated a two year romance begun at Berkeley L D S Seminary. The bride is a senior at the University of California Oakland. Legion Plans Armistice Day Celebration in Parowan

Parowan Legion members met to firm up Armistice Day plans. A free afternoon sports program at the race track is planned with Max Hendrickson coordinating entries. The Legion Auxiliary develops an oratorical contest for Parowan High School students, with a morning public meeting and a grand ball in the evening to close the day.

Paxton Hotel Sold to C F Bentley in Parowan

The West Main and Center street property formerly owned by the Ida M Orton Paxton heirs was bought by Charles F Bentley and his wife. They plan a remodeling into five modern apartments with two ready for occupancy this fall and a central heating system for the entire building. The brick structure has long been a Parowan landmark serving as hotel and rooming house, originally the Orton Hotel and later the Paxton.

Parowan Daughters of Utah Pioneers Food Sale Thursday

Deer hunters are urged to stock grub boxes with lucious home baked foods for a sale Thursday October 26 at the Cartwright building west main street north of Buy-Rite Grocery. Mothers Decorate First Grade Furniture For Enduring Pride

First graders arrived to rainbow painted chairs and play furniture after mothers painted them during holidays. Mrs Fae Benson led the class with help from Mrs Donna Reese and Adelle B Matheson while planning an upcoming program and home arithmetic activities. The mothers' surprise work delighted teachers and students, reflecting strong community involvement. The class also toured a new home site built by Roger Gurr and Frank Adams parents, and visited two houses under construction at the southeast town corner.

A call from the Parowan Stake Welfare to volunteer for potato picking and hauling at Welfare Farm on Saturday. Workers should meet at the echo corner at 8 am for transport to the farm.
