Ralph S. Orton and Howard Joseph were named to head their party tickets in the Parowan City Mayor race at nominating conventions. Orton led the Democrats for City Council with J. W. Moore and Carol Wright, while Republicans nominated A. G. Merkley and Morris Rasmussen. Turnout was strong with 69 Republicans and 50 Democrats, amid expectations of a historic municipal election on November 5. Absent voter ballot applications were available at the city office.

Nannie C Eyre Dies After Long Illness
Nannie Osborn Eyre aged 78 died Tuesday afternoon at her son in law and daughter Berl and …Matheson’s home after a long illness. Born December 5, 1878 in Cornwall England she emigrated to Salt Lake City at age six. The Eyre family moved to Frisco Beaver County later settling in St George LDS area then Para gore forty years ago. Survived by one son, eight daughters, nineteen grandchildren and twenty nine great grandchildren. Also surviving are sister Carre Evans Parowan brother Josiah Osborne Beaver stepmother Nellie C Osborne Salt Lake City four half sisters Hallie Murdock Helen Nolan Vera Miller and Vilda Barrett Salt Lake City. Funeral services Friday at 1:00 pm in Parowan First Second Ward Chapel with interment in Minersville under Squgthern ue direction.

Funeral Services Held For Victim Of Pneumonia
Funeral services were held in Parowan for Wilson Laird Burt three year old son of Mr and Mrs W C Bill Burt who died Saturday October 12 in Iron County hospital of pneumonia. Norman Adams led the service with prayers by Laben Burt and LeRoy Adams and benediction by Simon Benson. Edward G Matheson dedicated the grave with music by local quartet and solo numbers. Pallbearers were Jimmy and Roger Burt and burial was in Parowan City Cemetery.
