Interest Stirred for Coming Political Convention

With conventions a week away, political activity rises in a city election year. Nominations for Mayor and two councilmen will be made at the Wednesday conventions of both parties. Possible candidates include A. G. Merkley, F. C. Van Buren, Jay W. Moore, Morris Rasmussen, Heber Gurr, Ralph Orton, Eldon Smith. Republicans meet in the County Courthouse courtroom. Democrats in the Library basement. Registration days are October 15 and 29. Voters who turned 21 since the last election should verify eligibility. those who moved should transfer. Absent voter ballots available at City Office.

Gun and Rod Club Holds Regular Meet

Parowan Gun and Rod Club held its regular meeting at the courthouse last Thursday. Discussions centered on the Deer Hunters Ball and deer prize awards with door prizes replacing the rifle raffle this year. Eleven hunting equipment prizes were to be drawn, and two large deer prizes considered for the largest spread and heaviest animal, with eligibility required by October 1. The hunter information tent will not be set up due to costs and staffing.

Stake Party Planned by Parowan Stake Leaders

The Stake Presidency and High Council of the Parowan Stake announce a Stake Party on October 11 at the High School. Activities start at 5:00 p.m. with a Relief Society buffet in Home Economics, followed by entertainment, a Primary Association film, MIA programs in the gym, and a Sunday School auction. Proceeds go to the Bishop's Storehouse. All stake members are invited.
