Capacity Crowd Thrilled By Parowan Youth Talent Show
A 49 youth talent show in Parowan Third Ward Primary fundraiser drew a capaci ty crowd Wednesday evening. Judges from outside the stake picked winners in five age groups with prizes funded by Parowan businesses. Local emcee Kenneth Joseph introduced acts from ages three to eighteen, including tap, piano, singing, and readings.

City Appoints Elections Judges and Purchases Back Hoe
Purowan City Council appointed judges of election for district one Mary Alice Graff Mary Lyman Pavul A Matheson and district two Bess Miller Anna Adams and W Leonard Ryans with Orton Ward Halterman. The council also authorized a Henry Back Hoe for trench digging and cemetery work to save money. First load of pipe for Red Creek Canyon power plant arrived and work progresses toward operation early next year.

County DUP Elects New Officers
Twila Thornton was elected president of the County Daughters of the Utah Pioneers at Parowan. Mrs Uivee M Benson, the retiring leader, will have a role as chair. Other officers named include Agnes Cedun Uit as second president, Clara Mo Bene as vice president, Athens Gurr as secretary treasurer, and Hazel Ada Dalton as historian. Retiring officers were acknowledged, and reports by Camp Capitis, Twila Thornton, and Evelyn Lowder were presented. A Cedar City Tran Mission guest spoke on the Hole in the Rock expedition, and accordion sales by Leon Matheson accompanied luncheon for attendees.

Mrs Luella Ro Adams returned to Parowan after a month with relatives in northern Utah greeting eight new grandchildren since May. The newest is Alan Brent Anderson, son of Ronald and Bonnie Matheson Anderson of Provo. Adams visited with her sister Mrs Alice Redd Rich in Kincham City and with Poe and Alice Ballinger of Ogden, the Morris Johnsons of Kaysville, and the Mathesons and Obert Tanners of Salt Lake City. Her grandson Man Matheson is at Fort Ord in Army basic training. Anna and Eva Adams spent part of the week in Salt Lake City for teachers and bankers conventions. Lena Benson went to Springville with the Pattens. Lilly Blackburn visited Owen Holyoak in town from Fort Ord. Vernon Heaps was hospitalized in Iron County for a chronic heart ailment after two weeks at home. The Robinson family reports Mr Robinson’s condition critical again in Salt Lake General Hospital. son Leon visited last week and others planned to come.
