Literary Club Opens Season With Social Meetings
The Parewasy Literary club held its first meeting of the year on Wednesday evening September 24 at Gwen M. Gurr's home with hosts Mrs. Gurr Georgia B. Mitchell and Fae N. Benson. A hot dinner followed the program for the year and further business. The second meeting on October a at George Mitchell's home featured a review of Yankee Stranger by Elwyth Thane delivered by Clara Alice Graff, followed by refreshments.

Joseph O Jack May Dies In California Buried Here
Brief services were held here on Thursday afternoon for Joseph O Jack May 42 husband of Pearl Mortensen May. He died Monday from a heart ailment after a car incident near Pleo Ave and West Anselm St. Born in Ardmore Oklahoma, he lived in California since his teens and worked as a mechanical engineer and pipefitter. Surviving are his widow two brothers and four sisters. Graveside services were conducted at the home of Mr and Mrs Jasper Cartwright with Howard Joseph presiding and a mixed quartet providing music.

Farm Labor Shortage Still Acute In Iron County
Iron County faces a severe labor shortage as harvests loom for 60 acres of bunch carrots along with 1000 acres of potatoes and 10 acres of cabbage. Daniel Lowe Dies at Home of Son in Billings Montana
Daniel Lowe a former Parowan resident died at his son Max Lowe’s Billings Montana home on Tuesday October 8 after a long illness from innard cancer. He would have been 69 this month. Funeral services were held in Cowley Wyoming with sisters Lillian Heap and Desire Lowe Anderson attending. He was born October 1878, son of Geo. f. Lowe Sr., married Nellie Banks, father to ten children, nine living, and survived by brothers and sisters including George Ernest Lowe Lillian Heap Anna Evans Deslie Anderson Alphonso Lowe Laura Rose Grant Lowe.
