New Elementary Teachers Shine From Parowan Unit
Parowan Elementary welcomes Jean Kartchner and George R. Williams as new fifth grade and mixed fourth fifth grade teachers. Kartchner, born in Snowflake, Arizona, served in the navy and studied at BYU and USAC, while Williams, born in Blackfoot Idaho, served in Korea and completed a degree in elementary education at the College of Southern Utah. A new baby boy arrived Sept. 29 to Mr and Mrs Kendall Gurr at Iron County hospital, joining a daughter and two brothers.

Culmination of Garfield County dirt road to Glen Canyon
On Saturday September 28 the homemade road linking Glen Canyon to upstate Utah was dedicated with simple ceremonies at the canyon’s midway spring. The 47 mile dirt route, funded by Garfield County citizens led by Sam Pollock, cost about 4500 dollars and is travelable though still in dirt road stage.
