Assailant Bhriam Daily Held in Ongoing Durrant Case

Sheriff Kent reports no clear evidence or official claim from other states agencies about Durrant, accused in Ephraim Dai Paragonah attack. Durrant said to be the target of a Reno manhunt. Officers detained him last week but custody status awaiting trial decision. Clues on the second assailant remain missing.

Ward Sacrament Meet and Community Events Schedule

Park concession contracts reach new policy era

The Utah Parks Company, a Union Pacific subsidiary, and the Department of the Interior announce a group concession agreement covering Grand Canyon Nation al Park Zion and Bryce Canyon. The deal, Dec 1948 to Jan 1, 1948 period, sets a framework for future fee schedules and park concessions across all phases. Bryce contract ends Nov 31, 1948 with other agreements continuing.

Funeral services for Mrs Ida Orton Burton were held in Warowan East Ward Chapel with Ward Bishopric directing. The program featured soloists Ruth D. Newcomers Pryce Adams Welcomes Boy at County Hospital

Ip made three of a kind for Pryce and LaVinna Adams when the stork delivered a boy early Monday at the County Hospital. The infant weighed 7 lbs 5 oz. The Colonial Studios of Las Vegas Nevada held a baby photo contest in Parowan. Grand prize went to Clinton Bentley fourteen months old, son of Garry and Mrs. Bentley. Former Parowan Man Sucumbs To Heart Ailment In Salt Lake

Joseph E. Richards 66 prominent Utah lawyer educator and Church leader native of Parowan died Saturday in a Salt Lake hospital from heart ailment. He was born Oct 30 1882 in Parowan and educated in Parowan and Salt Lake City. A University of Utah graduate he taught in Freddinia Parowan Summit County and LDS schools and served as federal prohibition administrator 1921 to 1927. He married RoMay Oliphant in 1929 and is survived by his widow three sisters and one brother. Funeral services and burial were in Salt Lake City Tuesday.

New Plan For BAC Basketball Ticket Sales Announced

The BAC athletic council outlined a new method for season and individual game tickets. Applications for seven home games must be postmarked by December 4 with checks for 7.50 per ticket, limited to two per person. State Fair To Select Champion Food Preserver

The Utah State Fair Association seeks entries to crown Utah’s champion food preserver. A silver trophy from the National Garden Institute will be awarded at the Association of Utah Fairs and Livestock Shows, likely in February 1949. Graveside Rites Honor Pfc. Mark J. Wilcock

Graveside services for Private Mark J. Wilcock were held at Parowan Cemetery with three prayers and musical numbers. He died October 9 1944 near Florence Italy after being wounded in action while serving as squad leader in Company I 338th Infantry. Born January 9 1924 in Parowan he is survived by parents and siblings, grandparents, and other local relatives.

A 2500 word Country Gentleman report titled They Take Care of Their Own says the Mormon Welfare Program could sustain 840,000 Mormons during atomic war for years. It notes 110 storehouses stockpile food fuel clothing bedding and furniture and cites the 1948 Columbia River flood as Welfare’s greatest feat with 70 tons of aid arriving within hours.
