County Commissioners Hold November Meeting

The Tron County Board met Saturday with all members present along with clerk assessor attorney treasurer and sheriff. They reviewed a Long County Fair report showing a balanced 4.24 which was returned to the county. Discussions covered health concerns for Cedar Valley children and potential reduced-fee dental and tonsil services, unpaid property taxes, road improvements, and power allotment proposals for regional mining and agricultural needs.

Daughters of Pioneers Hold Interesting Meeting

The Daughters of the Pioneers held a regular meeting yesterday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Lowe Sr. A large attendance heard Mrs. LaVerne Hyall read and Gwen M. Gurr discuss Meritorial Buildings, with past presidents contributing ideas. Alice Y. Stevens played harmonica, Ila Lowe Bauer read a farm family themed poem, and a delicious luncheon closed the gathering.

About 700 youngsters under 12 participate in the chorus with a speaking part assigned to two children for each of the twelve words. District Court To Convene Here Friday

The November term of the District Court for SETH Juddleia will convene here Friday afternoon, November 26. A panel of jurymen was chosen weeks ago but may not be needed unless civil cases demand a jury. A brief Law and Motion Day term on November 8 disposed of probate matters and default judgments in several cases. Administrators were appointed for estates of Joseph Mickelson and John G Pace with bonds set at 800 and 15500 respectively. An inheritance tax of 334.55 was fixed for B M Owens estate. Foreclosure suits include Federal Land Bank against Rebecca Bulloch and Elles Lawrence totaling 1910 259.86 and 1786.02. A default judgment was granted in Southern Utah Lumber & Coat Co v D F Hamblin for 356.37. An interlocutory divorce granted to Aston Mills from James Mills restoring Miller’s Maiden name to Afton Hunter.

Thorton Golden Wedding Celebration Noted In Utah Parish

The Golden Wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Wm A Thorton was celebrated on November 17 in West Ward church with about one hundred guests. Eldest daughter Doris and her husband Tom Myers arrived with their ten day old baby from Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple has fourteen children, eleven living, and 33 grandchildren.

Delta Firm Purchases Parowan Alfalfa Seed

A Delta firm bought Parowan alfalfa seed, with Mey submitting the top offer. The purchase covered seed quality varying from weed-filled to relatively clean, shipping 16,005 pounds to Moody Brothers of Delta. Parent-Teacher Association Sets Monthly Meeting Day

The local Parent-Teacher Association will meet on the first Thursday of each month. President Tarriet Metheson announces the next gathering at the school house in December with a planned program. Attendance is urged from parents, children, and relatives from Pangultch, Cedar City, Payaan, Tooele, Provo, and Heaver.

Joseph Fielding Smith Attends Conference Here

Elder Joseph Fielding Smith of the quorum of the Twelve Apostles represented the general church authorities at the stake quarterly conference in Parowan. He urged harmony with gospel principles and warned of penalties for failing to live righteously, highlighting violations of the Word of Wisdom and tithing. Other speakers included Kimball Brown, Howard Joseph, Rupert Hulet, and D L Sargent among others, with music by Parowan wards choirs. Bishop Hughk L. Adams of Parowan West Ward and counselors were released. Thomas Wendell Bayles named new bishop, and high priests presidency saw B Glen Keeney replace James C. Parry.
