Yankee Singers elect new manager and secretary treasurer
Silas Topham was named manager and Karl O Mitchell named secretary treasurer of the Yankee Singers during a regular practice Wednesday evening. They replace Ivan Decker and Alton Merrill who had led the group. The chorus will join with the Victory Singers and the High School chorus to stage a Christmas varitain planned by Mr Weight. Regular practices will be held Wednesdays at 7 30 at the Seminary.

Two Amarillo men get 5 years to life for armed holdups
Ben Frank Oliver and Herbert Nelson Lawrance were sentenced by District Judge Will L. Hoyt after pleading guilty to two counts of armed robbery. The holdups occurred on October 19 as the pair robbed deer hunters on Highway 91, then fled to Las Vegas where they were captured. Victims were treated roughly and one car was set on fire during both incidents. Miss Cary Ward won the American Legion Oratorical contest held on Armistice Day at the school program following a parade of ex servicemen. Other contestants were Jetta Orton and Mayle McNicol. ex servicemen marched despite cold weather and a large crowd attended.

New School Year Adds Two New Principals at Elementary and High
This week marks the first time this year both school faculties are full. Max Dalley returns from Army service in Europe to lead the elementary grades and teach sixth grade, while Austin Adams joins the high school as business instructor and possibly speech. Adams is a 1926 graduate of the high school and a U U alumnus who has worked in Washington D C and Los Angeles. He joined the high school staff after visiting his father, Jos B Adams, and discovering the need in the business department.
