Republicans Win Victory In Parowan City Election
Voters swept the Republican ticket in Parowan, ending the Democratic administration. Majorities ranged from 10 to 221 votes with Republicans winning mayor, council, and recorder positions. District No 2 leaned Democratic, while Nos 1 and 3 favored Republicans. New officials include Mayor E Ray Lyman, councilmen How th Joseph LaMar Jensen Claude Burton Taylor Miller, Recorder Ver a E Adams, and Treasurer John W Bentley. Paragonah saw a split race with Republicans winning most seats.

Audine Mitchell Weds Harold Rogerson in Parowan Home
Audine Mitchell and Harold Rogerson were married last Thursday at the bride’s parents home with Bishop Jess W. Guyman officiating. The bride wore blue satin with pink rose corsage. DeWayne Ahlstrom was best man and a bridesmaid attended. After a wedding supper, guests lingered as clerks from the Mercantile visited. The couple plans a Salt Lake City honeymoon. Audine is a Parowan High School graduate and former Mere saleslady. Harold, from Fillmore, recently discharged from the army and once a trainer and rider of race horses in the area.

Former Resident Robert Geary Page Dies in Salt Lake City
Robert Geary Page 68 of Salt Lake City died Tuesday at a Salt Lake hospital of coronary thrombosis. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon in Salt Lake. He was born June 2, 1877 in Pinto Iron County and was a High Priest in the Pioneer Stake. He lived in Parowan and Pleasant Grove earlier, later moving to Salt Lake City in 1926. Survived by widow Dora Halterman Page and children Joseph H and Glen H Page. Reta Bailey of Monticello and Pearl P Nichols of Salt Lake. sisters Amy Knell and Eva Higbee. brothers John G Page and Geary Page. A large local group attended from Parowan and Cedar City.

Parowan FFA members purchase six Hereford calves near 900 pounds each during a Huntington trip, adding eight lighter calves. Purchases from Black Wakefield and Anderson total ten animals at 70 to 90 dollars each. Proceeds fund chapter activities including a May Spanish Fork Livestock Show entry.

Parowan observes Armistice Day with a Legion Auxiliary banquet tonight and a Monday program. A 10:30 parade features veterans from 1918 and 1945, followed by an 11:00 public meeting at the high school auditorium featuring the Oratorical finals. Counties unite on connecting road between Garfield and Iron
At a Pennington meeting Garfield and Iron counties agreed on a plan to survey and build an all year road linking highways 91 and 69 across the mountains. A group of local men returning from World War II service arrived home this week. T-5 Lloyd B. Stubbs reports 24 months overseas with a truck unit and five battle stars for Normandy Ardennes Rhineland and Central Europe. Bernarr B. Stubbs served four years with motor repair units in Africa and Italy. PFC Lyle Halterman discharged at Fort Douglas after 10 months overseas with Rhineland Ardennes and Central Germany campaigns. Cpl Albert M. Davis of the Army Air Corps wears six battle stars for England France Belgium and Germany. Cpl Clark G. Barton discharged at Fort Douglas after furlough. he earned three battle stars in Rome the Po Valley and Southern France.

Parowan Named in National Airport Plan for Local Airport
Parowan is among 87 Utah communities listed in the National Airport plan. The proposed local project would cost about 21800 dollars with 10800 for land preparation and 2200 for miscellaneous expenditures. As a Class 1 airport the field would have landing strips from 188 to 2700 feet for small planes up to 4000 pounds. Federal-aid bills fund 50 percent of specified construction costs.
