Back To School Night Set By High School PTA
The High School PTA will sponsor a Back To School night on Friday November 19 at 7 30 p.m. in the school auditorium led by Mrs Ida King president. Farewell For Elder Elwood Benson Monday

Benson, son of Richard M and Pearl Decker Benson, has been called by General Authorities to a two year mission in the East Central States Mission. He enters the Mission home in Salt Lake City on Wednesday, Nov 17, before leaving for Louisville Kentucky. Benson is a Parowan High School graduate and attended the lower division of College.

Final respects were paid to Mrs Harriet A Allen Heap at rites in the Parowan Third Ward Chapel. Speakers included Clair Rowley Jegs Guyman Arthur Joseph with brief remarks by Bishop Adams. Steelman Pleads Guilty To Grand Larceny Charge
Ed Steelman, 54, pleaded guilty in the Fifth Judicial Court to grand larceny for stealing 750 pounds of copper wire from Utah Power Company property near Cedar City in September. He was sentenced to a prison term in Utah State Prison of more than one year but less than ten years. a long prior offense record was noted during the trial.

Fire at Decker premises narrowly halted
Passersby spotted a blaze among waste lumber near the Decker properties and alerted the neighborhood. The fire, fed by outdoor lumber and outbuildings, was stopped by a quick fire department response before severe damage. A Frank Decker trailer was destroyed. a separate small fire started by a child was blamed for the initial flare up.

Marine Pfc Hal S Evans of Parowan served in Japan with the 3rd Marine Division 4th Regiment and trained at Fujiyama before the 4th Marines returned to Nara. Richard Batt recently finished basic at Lackland AFB Texas and is now at Chanute AFB Illinois. Ray Birch of the US Air Force Quartermaster Corps landed in Korea after Fort Ord and Fort Lee training.
