Grasshoppers threaten crops. Brower urges early control
Iron County Agent Stephen L Brower warns farmers that grasshoppers hatch earlier at lower elevations and later at higher ones in Utah. He urges early, low-cost control measures when hoppers are small, using chemical sprays after hatch and in daytime temps of 80 to 90 degrees, noting two newer insecticides can boost control up to 140 percent when timing is right.
