Parowan High School Graddates and Parents Honored
Graduates of Parowan High School with parents and faculty were honored at a reception hosted by the Parowan Parent-Teachers Association officers on Wednesday evening at the Recreation Hall. Distinguished attendees included Superintendent and Mrs. Ianthoe Wright and board of education members Mr. and Mrs. Herman E. Hayles. The program featured vocal performances by Violet Cross and Howard Keight, a solo by Jean Hall, and tributes to the graduates. The hall displayed white lilacs, roses, and vibrant centerpieces.

Mr and Mrs H B Whitney of Parowan announce the engagement and coming marriage of their daughter Elaine to LaMar Deke son of Mr and Mrs Ralph Duke of Provo. Vows will be spoken June 2 at the parents home with a reception that evening. Elaine is a Parowan High School graduate and has worked in Provo. LaMar is a World War II veteran employed by Geneva Steel Corp. After the ceremony the couple plan a brief honeymoon and to make their home in Provo.

Halterman Returns From Far East to California
Mr and Mrs Robert L Halterman of Civ heard their son Lieut Daryl Halterman had landed in California after serving in Japan since 1941 with a B 29 unit on bombing missions over Korea. He called from Vallejo after arriving by air and said a leave home soon is due with a future station in Louisiana.

Service Man in Japan With 24th Infantry Division
Pvt. Carroll B. DeMille of Parowan Utah serves with the battle-hardened 24th Infantry Division on Honshu Japan's main island. The unit arrived in Japan in early February after 19 months of combat and is now assigned to the radio section with Headquarters Battery of the 52nd Field Artillery Battalion. DeMille trained at Camp Gordon Georgia and went into the Army in April 1951 after working as a farmer.

Funeral services for Linda and Lyman Litchfield were held at Me Valley Mortuary in Prove on Wednesday. The twins, children of Kenneth and Ethel Litchfield Lyman, died shortly after birth. The Lymans, once from Parowan and Huntington, recently moved to Provo. Surviving parents include one brother Pruce and grandparents Frank Lyman of Angeles and Floyd Litchfield of Raymond Alberta.
