The Cadet Chapel at Wat Point Military Academy held a Wednesday mass for Miss Mary Joan Sutton and Lieut Freeman L Pendleton after his graduation and commission as a second lieutenant. The bride, daughter of Ruth Sutton, and Pendleton, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Pendleton, plan a brief honeymoon and then his 13 weeks of training in New Jersey before serving with the American Occupation forces in Austria, with his wife to join him.

Son of Parowan couple earns national Danforth award
Stephen Matheson an 18 year old East High School senior in Salt Lake City received the Danforth award as outstanding Senior. The honorary national recognition cites his scholastic athletic social and religious activities. He is the youngest son of U S District Attorney Scott M Matheson and Mrs Matheson of Salt Lake City and grandson of Mrs Luella R Adams of Parowan. He spent summers in Parowan working on the H L Adams farm in the Valley.

William C Dalton Last Rites Held in Parowan Chapel
Funeral services for William Carlyle Dalton age 63 were held Monday afternoon in Parowan First Ward L D S Chapel. A long time government trapper, he died after a three year illness from heart failure following lung damage. Speakers included Harley Dalton, Byron Thornton and Bishop Watson Adams. Music featured a male quartet and others, with burial by Southern Utah Mortuary.
