Theme Chosen For Sunday School Ward Conference
The Parowan Stake forwards the ward Sunday School conference theme History and Development of your Sunday School. Wards are urged to chart all ward superintendents from the first organization to now with dates pictures and data. A prize will be awarded by the Stake Sunday School Board for the most complete chart. Judges include President Wick Palmer Mrs Loretta Riddle and Morris Buchanan. Charts will be judged June 23 in the Second Ward Chapel Cedar City at 3:15 p.m. for the next Stake Sunday School convention. A tentative program and ward conference date will be mailed, and ward conference information will be filed for a ward history to be sent to the General Board.

The Democratic Party reorganized at the county convention held in the county courthouse on Saturday evening. Wm S Bub Leigh was named county chair man to succeed Emedt Macfarlane, with Augusta Admis re elected as vice chairwoman and other officers chosen. Sixteen delegates were selected to attend the State convention at Salta, with full voting rights. Grover A. Giles gave the keynote speech.

Mayor Proclaims Clean- Up Day At Five Mile Camp
Parowan City Mayor J E Ray Lyman proclaims a half holiday on Wednesday May 20 1848 extend from 1 o'clock to allow citizens to clean up Vermilion Castle Recreation Park in Parowan Canyon. Wartime restrictions limit maintenance funds as Dixie National Forest cannot fully manage the site. Local residents urged to volunteer that afternoon to beautify and revitalize the park.

Paragonah Miss Set For LDS Mission This Fall
Miss Maxine Lund daughter of AJ and Mrs Terry Lund has received a call to serve a mission for the LDS church in the northwestern states. She will leave for her field early in September after graduating from Branch Agricultural College in Cedar City this Friday morning. Lund has led the student body as president for the past year and joined Lambda Delta Sigma and Phi Rho Omega sororities. A graduate of the LIDS Institute and Parowan High School she will continue at the District Health office until departure.

Newell B Weight music instructor at Parowan High School for four years is among 234 graduates receiving degrees at BYUs 70th annual commencement. Exercises in June in the Joseph Smith Building auditorium mark President Howard S McDonald’s first commencement since taking office last June. Weight has pursued his Masters degree during the past year.
