Missionaries Return From East Ward Sacrament
Llord Guymon and Gurr completed a mission for the LDS Southwest Indian work in the Parowan East Ward. Kier Curnmuun, son of Jestin Guymon, aided Pueblo outreach in New Mexico and helped expand Indian pueblo work. Eder Guymon and Eider Guymon accompanied them, with families noting deep religious commitment and service in Parowan and Arizona. They returned this week to their Arizona home after serving in Utah.

Dr. Neil Christensten of Cornell University Ithaca N Y will be interviewed by the USA C trustees for the president position at the college. He is a native of Parowan whose wife is La Lyman of Parowan. Christensten has taught mathematics at Cedar City Junior College and has held deanships at Tasadena College and Colorado A M Fort Collins. During the War he worked for the US government at a proving plant in Albuquerque. The couple have four boys and two girls with their eldest son at Cornell University. Rulon M Lyman and May Ray Lyman are his brothers in Parowan.

Local Bey Wins Place In State Track Meet
Parowan athletes dominated the State Track event at the University last Saturday. Mack Luinaing and coach Adams led Parowan contingent with strong performances in the javelin and sprint events. The meet drew competitors from across the state and culminated in a visit to Logan following the competition.

Amil Witte Succumbs at 70 in Parowan Valley
Amil Witte, 70, died Thursday night at the Bart Mortensen home after a months long heart ailment. Born October 29, 1879 in Detroit, he moved west in 1905 to farm in Parowan Valley and later farmed and ran a poultry business. Obituary of John P. Orton of Parowan Dies After Long Illness
John P. Orton 80, prominent Parowan resident, died at home after a long illness from a chronic heart condition. Born in Newthorpe England September 11 1869, he farmed and worked from age twelve, converted to the LDS Church in 1581, married Sarah Ann Frith in 1880, moved to Utah in 1895 settling in Parowan. He worked in photography stock raising and lumbering, served a mission 1906 1908, held church roles, remarried Lydia Stevens in 1939. Survived by his Parowan widow and sister Mrs George Bettridge Salt Lake City. Funeral Saturday 2 p.m. at Parowan West Ward Chapel. Burial Parowan City Cemetery.

Mother Of Parowan Woman Dies In Idaho
Martha T. Heaps Allen aged 84 of Victor Idaho mother of Parowan resident Mrs C Henry Heaps died after a lingering illness. Her daughter stayed with her since early April and was with her at death. Henry Heaps Ralph Heaps Martha Kirkpatrick Donald and Evalyn Kirkpatrick attended the funeral services held in Victor on Monday.

Summer Band School Starts June 5
The summer band program opens June 5 with schedules for Beginning Brass at 9:00, Woodwinds at 9:00, Strings at 11:00, Percussion at 1:00, and advanced brass on MW and Woodwinds later. Daily supervised clinics and a 2:30 class for prospective Drum Majors and Twirlers are planned, plus senior band rehearsals Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7:30 for alumni and former players.
