School Board Lets Contracts for New Castle and Cedar City
The Board of Education awarded the New Castle school building to Hamilton and Palmer for 35 950 dollars. The Cedar City Junior High addition contracts went to multiple local bidders for various parts, totaling 28 198 87 dollars. Local firms won most trades and four supervisors will oversee work. Transportation contracts for Parowan students were renewed with Lowe Barton and Parowan Auto Co. for three years.

Civil suits filed in district court include damages and divorce cases
Civil suits filed in the district court include a $20,500 damage suit by Alfonzo Huntsman against the Railroad Co arising from the death of sixteen year old Wilbur Huntsman run over by a U P train south of Lund. A divorce suit sees Oral Mackelprang seeking a decree against Warren Mackelprang on grounds of habitual intemperance and cruelty, and Macfarlane and Bergstrom sue Joseph Williams of Kanarra on account.

Clinic Examines 75 Children Finds 65 Ill
Seventy five preschool children were examined by state health officials in a free clinic. Of the group, 65 showed disease or defects. 60 were not protected against diphtheria and none had smallpox vaccination. County Board Briefly Meets in May Session
The Board of County Commissioners held its regular May meeting, brief and routine. Officers present included the Clerk, assessor, attorney and the county supervisor. They discussed cedar valley road trouble, proposed redistricting to include the Desert in Cedar District, livestock trail on Kanarra Mountain, and a county audit with tax settlements and a new typewriter purchase. Seventy Six Thousand Fish Planted In Local Streams
Two shipments totaling seventy six thousand fish mostly eastern brook were received from the hatchery and planted in local streams within the week by the Gun and Bog club. The effort, free of charge, marks the club’s first planting since reorganization and focused on headwaters of the Flossier and dry lakes and main canyon head. Another shipment is expected soon.
