Parowan Exceeds Quota In Cancer Drive
Parowan and Iron County residents surpassed previous drives in the Cancer Drive. Mrs. BE Ray Lyman headed the effort and local contributions totaled about $140, notably higher than last year. She thanks volunteers and city residents for their generosity.

A C to Honor Professor Parley Dailey with Scholarship
Alumni and friends of Professor Parley Dailey raise the Parley Dalley Scholarship in Science to honor his 43 year teaching career at Utahs southern college. The endowment aims for 5000 dollars to fund a yearly scholarship with funds kept in a trust at Hazen Cooley. The tribute signals his retirement at years end and continues as the school expands from a normal school to a four year college.

Death of Jared J. Orton in Parowan
Jared J Orton longtime Parowan resident died Sunday afternoon at his home after a heart attack followed by a cerebral hemorrhage. Born April 16 1901 in Parowan he was a son of Samuel T and Father Johnson Orton. He worked for the County and State Road Commissions and later 12 years with the Southern Wish Dairy Company. An elder in the Plivet Ward, he married Gettin Miller July 27 1927 in Panguitah and the ceremony was in the St George Temple on February 26 1930. Survived by his widow two daughters Mrs Reed Lewen Gower Cedar City Norma Hodean Orton Parowan two grandsons and brothers and sisters Joe Orton Union Oregon Silacr Ernest Ellis Don William Twenty and A Hills Orton Mrs Rebecca Smith and Mrs Magelo Page all of Parowan. Funeral held Thursday at the First Second Ward Chapel. Burial in Parowan City Cemetery under Southern Utah Mortuary.

Louise Marsden Featured Piano Soloist At BYU Concert
Louise Marsden daughter of Mr and Mrs Will Marsden of Parowan won a BYU Symphony audition to be featured piano soloist at a Provo concert. The BYU senior piano major trained by her mother and later Branch Agricultural College graduate studied under Prof Furstner and will graduate next year.
