Parowan City Signs Contract With Dixie Power Company

Parowan City council approved a contract with Dixie Power Company allowing emergency power purchases at two cents per kilowatt and surplus power sales to the city at three tenths of a cent per kilowatt. The meeting also honored Clarence Richards, discussed a city hearse paint job, and addressed street trench issues and delinquent utility accounts.

Funeral Held For Little Ward Child

Little LaVanna Ward three years old daughter of Rex and Ward was laid to rest after a West Ward chapel service led by Bishop Ht L Adams. Speakers included Will L Adams Scott M Matheson and Barbara Adams with a Ladies trio reading sympathy. Choir directed by L J Adams sang Come Unto Me.

Twenty four graduates receive diplomas at Farowan Weich School

Twenty four students were awarded diplomas at the Farowan Weich School graduation last Friday evening. Dr M J Macfarlane praised graduates teachers and taxpayers while Scott M Matheson gave a strong address. Stake Swarm Day Program Details at Stake Bee Hive Event

The Stake Bee Hive Swarm Day in rarowan on Saturday May 23 features a 2 p m meeting, games, lunch, and a 7 30 p m one act play program. The program includes songs, invocations, speeches by Bee Hive members, musical numbers from local wards, and graduation exercises with games directed by Misses Zona Pendleton and Clara Bentley. Civil suits filed in county district court

John A Adams and Wm B Adams doing business as Adams others are named defendants in two suits filed in the county district court during the week. Grace W Bowman and Bowman Mercantile Co are plaintiffs in both cases and allege recovery on checks issued by the defendants in December 1923.

Mr Peter HH Gurr was rushed to the hospital Wednesday night with an acute attack diagnosed as gall stones. Doctors expect a possible operation, decision to be made by morning.

Court completes work of session in May term

The Graff case settled by stipulation ending most May term business. Judge Cox and reporter James Keller were present since last week and will stay through Saturday. Several cases were dismissed or not tried. A fault judgment was entered in Jon's Savings & Trust Co. v. Ashton for 1892 plus fees. Other cases like Nick Floor v. Mitewell et al and Scott v. Cedar Lumber were continued or dismissed. A divorce case Mary Emily Johnson v. Lawrence Sylvester Johnner named the hospital guardian for the defendant.

Roy Mitchell Buried With Military Honors

World War veteran LeRoy Mitchell died last Friday from burns and was buried with full military honors Monday afternoon. The funeral was held in the West Ward chapel led by Bishop I L Adams, with a color guard from American Legion Post No 26 and Legion auxiliary ladies. A twenty four gun salute and taps marked the ceremony, with speeches by Jarrell Dalton John Stevens Leonard Thenam and Scott M Matheson. The service included choral singing and piano accompaniments, with prayers by L Brooks. (continued to buck page)
