Conference Set for Parowan May 30 and 31

Plans for Cedar City First Ward chapel approved
The first presidency approved plans for the new First Ward chapel in Cedar City and allocated 29 000 dollars to cover costs. The ward will also receive 16 500 dollars from the sale of the tabernacle corner for a Federal building site. The chapel is described as likely the most beautiful in the Stake architecturally. A 20 000 dollar government payment for the site has arrived in Salt Lake City and will be delivered once the title abstract is updated and minor formalities are completed.

Cedar City Youths Set for Foreign Missions
A farewell testimonial was given at nights in the BG gym for four Cedar City youths leaving for missions. Ruth Leigh of the third ward heads to the Northwestern States mission, Maine Jones and Paul Cox of the same ward to the German Austrian mission, and Larry Leigh of the second ward to the Swiss German mission. The event, sponsored by the missionary society and the Mutual Improvement Associations of the two wards, featured a program and dancing.

King Hendricks to undergo tonsil adenoid operation

Officers Raid Cedar City Bootlegger Suppression Continues
Sheriff L. BR. Fife city marshal Moroni Corry and nightwatchman Nat Gardner led a raid on the Gibbs residence on First East Street finding about a half gallon of moonshine. Mrs Gibbs and adopted son Barl Kinterliter face potential charges and Otto Ahlstrom, though evading capture, may be pursued for felony violation after a prior court fine.

Civic Clubs Seek Per Capita Fees for Southern Utah
The Associated Civic Clubs of Southern Utah asks each of eleven counties to pay five cents per capita to fund its work. Iron County would contribute about 360 dollars, with Cedar City and Parowan Chambers of Commerce pledging. The plan was presented by Benjamin Cameron Jr. executive secretary, who also discussed a connecting link road between Panguitch and the mountain area.

Adda Gibbs of Cedar City pleaded guilty in Justice Kelly's court to possession of liquor after her residence was raided Wednesday night. A fine of 75 dollars was assessed and paid. The charge against her son Earl Tinterliter was dropped.
Legion Auxiliary Poppy Program Planned Tonight
Legion Auxiliary announces a free public program at 8 o clock in the Recreation hall to promote the annual memorial poppy sale for disabled veterans and families. The event features an American anthem, invocation, vocal solos, readings, a poppy drill by ex soldiers' children, a talk on why we went to war, choruses, pantomime, and community singing to conclude with the Star Spangled Banner. Poppies will be sold tomorrow to support the memorial symbol fund.
