Parowan Names Three Boys State Delegates
Three Parowan High students Larry Rowley Nelson Merkley and Kenneth Bayles have been chosen as Boys State delegates for a week in Logan starting June 4. Sponsored by the American Legion Red Hill Wranglers and the Parowan Fireman's Club. They will also attend the Regional Track and Tennis Meet in Cedar City on May 14 representing Parowan and will enter tennis events.

Parowan High Hosts Amateur Art Exhibit
An amateur art exhibit is in progress at Parowan High School under Mrs. John C. Dalton. Open daily 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the school gym, the show runs through Sunday and features handicraft leathercraft metalwork woodwork rockwork plastic models paintings and driftwood pieces for public viewing.

City Council Allocates Recreation Funds for Youth programs
The council approved a $1,075 cash request to fund the youth recreation program and considered a $1,570 overall recommendation from the Recreation Committee. The race track rail upgrade was increased to $600 for pipe purchase. Budget includes $2,000 for swimming pool and $600 for track, plus $1,250 rolled from last year for blacktopping the race track parking area. Clay Rasmussen’s salary set at $25 per month plus $1.50 hourly planting work.

Chamber Calls Mass Meeting For Parowan Pool Site
Parowan residents are urged to attend a special public mass meeting at the school auditorium on Saturday May 14 to decide the location for a proposed swimming pool. The project has drawn controversy with sentiment divided on timing but support appears to favor building the shell sun deck and rough plumbing in stages as funds allow. Two sessions are scheduled at 1 30 pm and 8 00 pm and a large turnout is urged.

Annual outing set Saturday by Priesthood
Parowan Stake members are reminded of the annual outing at Vermillion Castle Forest Camp in Parowan Canyon, starting 3 p.m. Saturday to commemorate the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood. Activities include recreation, refreshments, and a program, with services on Sunday led by Aaronic Priesthood Quorums. Clair and Evan J. Lister recently took over Parowan Coneo Service Station management after lease to Mack Dalton. Mr and Mrs LaVar Taylor spend weekend in Ogden with Le Grand Leigh family.

Winder to Speak at Tourist School Series Start May 17
William C. Winder of the State Department of Vocational Education will open a series of Tourist Schools sponsored by the Parowan Exchange Club to educate locals about tourist needs. Classes begin May 17 at 8 p.m. in the high school, with about two hours per session and future speakers planned.
