John Peter Bayles 81 died at home and funeral services were held in Parowan First Ward Chapel under Alma Evans. A prominent Parowan businessman and farmer, he helped found Parowan Times Publishing Co. and the Parowan Garage, owned the Parowan Meat Market, and served on the Bank of Iron County board. He was survived by three sons, three daughters, and 22 grandchildren. interment followed at Parowan City Cemetery.

Parowan groups coordinate to aid tourist booth plan
The Parowan Coordinating Council outlined duties for community groups to support a new tourist booth on Main Street. The Chamber of Commerce built the booth on City Park, with programs run by the Parowan Literary Club and Daughters of Utah Pioneers camps.
