Fortress Gunner Home From European Front
Sergent Rulon Paramore a 12 gunner on a B 17 Flying Fortress in the 1th Bombardment Group of the Eighth Air Force returned home last Tuesday after completing the required missions over Germany. He flew raids on industrial targets and troop concentrations and participated in shuttle bombing across Germany to Russia and back to England. During training at Sioux City Air Base he bailed out of a Fortress when its motor failed on a practice flight. After a three week home stay with Mr and Mrs Golden Paramore he will report to Santa Ana Air Base for re alignment.

Utah trout fishing season set to open June 15

Atwood, manager of the Social Security board's Salt Lake City field office, will visit Parowan on Wednesday May 23 1945 to assist those over 85 who worked under the act to file retirement pension claims and to accept claims from minor children widows and wives of deceased, plus provide information to employers and others on the law. Residents should leave their names with the postmaster for pickup upon arrival. City And Legion To Buy Holiday Decorations
At a Tuesday city council meeting the city agreed to partner with the local American Legion post to purchase flags and wagherders for lamp posts on patriotic holidays. The Legion would pay one third of costs. the city would cover two thirds. The council also added flag holders for memorial services and discussed Memorial Day plans to hold services at the Cemetery on May 30. A delegation urged a municipal pool in postwar planning, which may be included if feasible. Other items included potential power and light rate revisions.

Me and Mrs Thomas Robinson, longtime Paragonah residents, celebrated their 80th anniversary on Monday April 6 at the Robinson home with a family gathering. In the afternoon relatives shared stories and refreshments, then an evening social included children Thomas A Robinson and Samuel Abbott, nine grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. Two grandchildren Tommy Abbott of the U S Navy and Nona Harris of Salt Lake City could not attend.

Moore Killed In Action In Germany During WW II War
War Department confirms Jack W. Moore of Bowman South Dakota was killed in action in Germany while serving in the 15th Infantry Regiment 3rd Division 7th Army. He volleyed through Italy and Southern France, earned a temporary sergeant rank, and previously served in the Philippines. Survived by his wife and young son in Bowman, his father in Parowan and three sisters. Memorial services tentatively planned May 1 at Pareran Eastward chapel with family anticipated to attend.
