Stake Conference Set for May 5 and 6 in Parowan LDS Church
The Parowan Stake of the LDS Church announces its regular quarterly stake conference on Saturday evening May 5 and Sunday May 6 at the Cedar 1st Ward chapel. A Priesthood readership meeting opens the weekend, followed by general Priesthood sessions at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. A graduation exercise for Cedar Seminary and Institute, and the B A C commencement sermon, will occur in the same building. Elder Ezra T Benson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will attend and deliver the evening sermon. a Welfare Committee member may also attend.

Former resident Frank Wooley dies in Las Vegas home
Frank Wooley 4 a former Circleville Utah resident who had lived in Las Vegas eight years died this morning at his home 866 North Westside pending funeral arrangements. He was a Nebraska native and former carpenter. Survived by two sons William and Frank Jr both of Las Vegas. three daughters Rose Hammond Luther Swanner and Harold Allen all of Las Vegas. former wife Evangeline Wooley of Westside. 15 grandchildren five overseas in force. one brother and one sister also surviving. Burial plans were not disclosed.

Paragonah Man Released From German Prison Camp
The Topham family rejoices as S Sgt Waldo Topham reports being at a hospital and visiting his brother Cpl Dewey Topham who has just recently been released from a German prison camp. The family has three sons overseas and Dewey had been missing since December 17. A prior letter had hinted he was alive and the War Department later confirmed he was a prisoner of war in Germany. Separately, a court in Paragon authorized an adoption order making Mr Dunton the legal father of Audrey Louise May and Jennie Marie Pratt, children from a prior marriage.

Milo Mortensen Honored At Memorial Service
Sergeant Milo C Mortensen a Par owan soldier who died of wounds on Luzon March 31 was honored at memorial services in the East ward chapel Sunday afternoon. The service directed by the Westward bishopric featured choral numbers and readings by local church and community members. An American flag was presented to Mr and Mrs Mortensen by Albert E Adams of the American Legion post. The service closed with the choir singing Sometime Well Understand.

Typhoid and Smallpox Immunization Clinic Held
On Thursday morning May 3rd at 3 o'clock at the Elementary school building a Typhoid and Smallpox Immunization clinic will be held. Sponsored by the local Parent-Teacher organization and Dr. Paul K. Edmounds of Cedar City will conduct the clinic. All persons who had the three in noculations for Typhoid last year should come in for a booster Gose to keep immunity active for another year. People who have not had a successful smallpox vaccination for the past 5 to 7 years should be vaccinated. All townspeople adults and preschool children interested in securing these immunizations are invited to attend.

Mark Robinson wounded on the island of Cebu
A letter to Mrs. Arthur Robinson from her son Pic. Mark Robinson says he was wounded in the battle for Cebu in the Philippines but the injury is minor, just a 3 nick hip wound. He enlisted April 10, 1943 and went overseas in October that year, serving in campaigns in the southwest Pacific including Bougainville. Mrs. C. W. Elliott and her baby visit from Ogden to stay with relatives.

Paragonah to honor Lyle Robb on Sunday
Memorial services for Lieutenant Lyle W. Robb of Paragonah, a fighter pilot killed on Luzon on March 14, will be held Sunday after noon at 3 o clock in the Paragonah ward chapel. He served in the Army Air Corps and flew a P 38 on a special mission before his death. Survived by wife Thelma Lamoreaux, his parents Mr and Mrs Walter Robb, and brothers James of Seattle and Ward Robb of the Army Air Corps on Guam.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon April 20 at 2 o clock for Mrs Mary Ann Williamson Robinson. Bishop J Leonard Topham conducted the service with choir and musicians including Afitasa Stones Doyle Robinson Wm P Barton J Lane Barton and W Leonard Evans among others. Speakers included W Leonard Evans Thomas A Robinson and Dena Williamson. The service featured violin and flute duets and piano solos with closing prayers by Bishop Topham and Samuel Abbott. The grave was dedicated by T A Topham.
