Elementary Kids Set Pet Show at Parowan Elementary
A hobby fair and pet show will be held at Parowan Elementary School on Friday May 3. Hobbies and small pets will be shown on tables in the halls, with large pets displayed by the trees behind the building. Parents are invited to visit throughout the day. The event is planned and sponsored by Student Council members from eight grades, led by Tommy Benson and Betty Jo Bess, both sixth graders. The council meets weekly.

Council Ponders Recreation Fund Problems
A delegation led by Heber Gurr S M Clark and Herbert Topham asked the City Council for funds from the Recreation Fund to bring TV to Parowan. They have extended programs to Parowan and Paragonah using their own equipment. The council granted a $500 appropriation from the recreation budget and salvage material from the old Paragonah electric lines valued at $25.

First Of Series Of Selling Utah Classes Held
The first of three classes to educate Utah business people on selling Utah and its scenic attractions to tourists was held Monday night at Parowan High School library. William C. Winder led the session, sponsored by the Parowan Chamber of Commerce. The next sessions cover what to sell and how to sell it. The May 6 class will focus on what to sell to tourists. Representatives from all public-facing businesses are urged to attend. The fourteen hour course is open to the public.

Bryce Canyon Roads Open After Snow Drifts Cleared
Park Superintendent Glen T. Bean announced all access roads into Bryce Canyon National Park are open. Heavy snow drifts blocking routes to Natural Bridge Rainbow Point and other viewpoints at higher elevations are cleared. The Navajo Loop Trail is now open to hikers.

Snow Survey Shows Improved Moisture in Area Courses
Measurements of snow and water content on local courses were completed May 1 by the Soil Conservation Service. All sites show substantial moisture gains over 1955 and 1956, brightening the water picture for the region. Notable figures include Yankee Reservoir and Cedar Breaks with higher snow and water readings, Midway and Webster Flat showing gains, while Parowan logged 1.95 inches of April moisture, above 0.85 inches in 1956. Death Claims Summit Lady Mrs Farrow at 72 in Summit
Mrs. Sarah Randall Farrow died at her Summit home on Tuesday after a brief illness. She was 72, born January 11, 1885 in St George, daughter of Joseph H. and Rebecca Ann Lewis Randall. She married John Farrow in Summit in November 1947. Surviving is daughter Elva Farrow of Summit. She was Utah-born, lived in Provo as a child, self educated due to a hearing deficiency, and a member of the Latter Day Saints Church.
