Frank Knell reports brighter prospects for Newcastle farmers as canyon water has fed five irrigating streams for ten days. Fields have been irrigated once or twice, unlike last year when water was scarce. Only two first cutting alfalfa roads were planned versus seventy five in normal years. Much alfalfa was killed by drought, but surviving plants should yield better this year.
