Sanitary project to start Monday in county
A county sanitation program moves to replace unsanitary outdoor toilets with septic tanks. Engineer Lex Shields cites 9000 relief funds, local lumber pricing, and 32 workers ready to begin Monday. Parowan High Band Earns Top Ratings At State Music Contest
Parowan High School band members returned from the Iowa state music contests with high marks. The band received Highly Superior for playing, Superior for marching, and Excellent for the drum major. Judges praised interpretation and balance while noting a need for a bit more virility without sacrificing refinement. The ensemble earned 93 of 108 in parade scoring and multiple members received excellent or good ratings for individual performances. The trip to Provo proceeded without incident and the overall experience was highly successful.

Five Mile Forest camp in Fearowan canyon to receive a spring clean-up and a name change. The Cham ber of Commerce proposes a 335 dollar prize for the best name with Forest officials as judges. Flora Pendleton Skougard dies of heart trouble at 24
Flora Pendleton Skougard aged 24 of Parowan and here died this morning at the home of Mr and Mrs Clarence B Skougard from a sudden heart attack. She leaves a husband, daughter Renee aged almost four, parents Clarence Pendleton and Flora Pendleton and a sister Mrs Zona F P Topham. Funeral services are planned for Sunday afternoon at two.
