Luella A. Dalton of Parowan was named Utah State Mother of the Year for 1956, representing the Southern District. She will attend the National Mothers meet in New York City on May 4, with Governor J. Bracken Lee to present the citation in Salt Lake City on April 15.

Utah game bird hunters show near normal bag returns
Final field and census figures indicate Utah dove and pheasant hunts last fall produced better than normal and near average results. About 10 000 dove hunters bagged over 80 000 birds for an average of more than eight per hunter, up from 1954. Pheasant data show 1954 licenses 97 796, 1955 97 637. hunters fielded 82 370 in 1954 and 79 793 in 1955, with 15 399 non-hunters in 1954 and 18 844 in 1955, average birds per hunter 3.16 in 1954 and 2.49 in 1955, total kill 260 289 in 1954 and 196 195 in 1955, weather cited as a major factor. A baby boy was born to Mr and Mrs Jack Dalton Wednesday at Iron Co Hospital, their first boy. The Daltons have five daughters. Rex Bess and family of Cedar City purchased the Ivan Decker home and recently moved in.
