Regional Track Meet May Be Held In Parowan
Regional track meet is planned for Parowan with a first May 1 session if the track can be prepared. The senior class will build an inside curb and require about 50 truckloads of cinders from the Steam Power plant two miles up Cedar Canyon. Last Rites Held For Mary Ann Mitchell Smith In Parowan
Mary Ann Mitchell Smith 66 long time Parowan resident died Monday in Virden New Mexico from complications. Funeral services were held in Parowan East Ward L D S Chapel with six of her eleven children present among survivors. The service featured a mixed quartet and speakers including Dr Albert O Mitchell and W Clair Rowley with burial at the cemetery dedicated by E Ray Lyman. Pallbearers were four sons Moroni W William C Cooper and J Holmes and two brothers Walter and William C Mitchell.

Ruth Boardman directed an original skit with Dina Williamson as narrator and Wilma Lamoreaux providing music, followed by refreshments and a birthday cake in the chapel basement. A bazaar featuring sewing and handiwork complemented the celebration.------------- Mr and Mrs Sidney Pritchard announce the marriage of their granddaughter Helen Coutts to Marvin Finch on March 3, the Silver wedding anniversary of Helen’s parents Warren and Mrs Coutts. Helen, an Alameda High School graduate, studied at UC extension and College of the Pacific, is known as Miss McClure in Hollywood screen work and dance, with roles in April Showers and Stage Struck among others. The couple plan to reside in Hollywood.

In Paragona the MIA hosted its annual Gold and Green Ball in the schoolhouse auditorium. A large crowd attended as locals and nearby youths enjoyed a decorated venue.
