Miss Noreen Mortensen a rising film and TV actress from Wellywood California visited relatives in Parowan this week. She joined her parents Walter and Mrs Mortensen and brother Fred of Midvale at her grandmother Isa Mortensen’s home as she recovers from illness. She stars in the Boston Black series and will take a second lead in Universal International’s Hollywood Girl beginning next month. She spoke to a Seminary class in Parowan and was joined by Marine Lieutenant Richard Anderson, then left Utah midweek for the coast.

Salt Laker Pleads Guilty To Drunken Driving
Ned Sinclair McKenzie, 34, of Salt Lake City, pleaded guilty to drunken driving in Parowan Justice Court. He forfeited his license, fined 150 dollars, and received 30 days in jail, the sentence suspended on payment. He was arrested Friday night after driving off Highway into an irrigation ditch on Main Street.

Final Plans For Stake Building Given Approval
The Parowan Stake Recreation Hall and gymnasium project for the Third Ward Chapel enlargement has been approved by the Presiding Bishop's Office. Materials will be available once plans are perfected and funds are raised. Fetzer and Fetzer of Salt Lake City will design a 40 by 90 foot gym with a 24 foot stage, Relief Society quarters, classrooms, a new heating plant, and an integrated old and new building.

Funeral services honored Mrs Melba Webb Moore age 49 wife of Clyde Moore and lifelong City resident. She died after a lengthy illness at her Valley home with services in the First Ward under the Second Ward Baptist direction. Vormer Resident Orlen Rasmussen Dies in California Ward
Orlen M. Rasmussen 51 of Maywood California died in a Maywood hospital after a one day illness. Born March 10 1901 in Parowan he was the son of John T. Rasmussen and Anna Mortenson. He served in Europe with US occupational forces after World War I and had two marriages, Wanda Dalton of Parowan in 1919 and a second in 1949. He moved to California about 25 years ago to work as a mechanic. Services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at Maywood mortuary with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
