Military Rites Mark services For Leonard Dalton
Leonard Dalton longtime American Legion Pom No 20 member had funeral services Friday at Barowan West Ward Chapel under Bishop Karl Mitchell. Legion Chaplain H E Bayles offered the invocation as the mixed quartet with Mary Lyman accompanied sang Rock of Ages and Come Unto Me. Speakers included Stake President W Clair Rowley and Mrs Barbara M Adams reading sentiments from Olive Carroll and Evangeline A Robinson. Pallbearers were Bruce Adams Jack Dalton Tobe Leigh Doyle Clark Reed Orton and Lloyd Stubbs. The cemetery grave was dedicated by Heber Gurr with a military salute by Legionaires. crowd overflowed seating. attendees included local officials, fellow workers, and many from Parowan and nearby communities. Ted Dalton of Delta and others attended from out of town.

Branson court grants parolee termination after burglary case
Judge Will L. Hoyt presided over a busy one day session on Wednesday in the Fifth Judicial District Court. The sole criminal case was State v Vernon L Grimm 18 of Cedar City charged with second degree burglary tied to robberies of Cedar City businesses. Grimm, a parolee from the State Industrial School, was ordered to return to custody and parole terminated. Also on the docket two former Canadians Helen Jene Banks Milford and Lorin Amata Little St George were admitted to U.S. citizenship. Interim divorces of Arlene Anderson Robb and John Norman Stock were granted on cruelty and non support grounds. both reside Cedar City.

At a PTA meeting the group decided to curb rising demands for junior prom and keep formal events for high school. High Winds Cause Fire At Keith Robinson Home
A frame dwelling at a corner location was badly damaged by a fire sparked when a heavy wind-driven stove pipe and temporary chimney failed. Mrs Keith Rotineon and three sons escaped as neighbors, a volunteer fire crew, and Keith and his father began cleaning up and safeguarding belongings. The fire, investigated by City Marshal Harrell Dalton, scorched interior walls, ceilings, and furnishings though exterior walls largely survived with help from local volunteers.

Mrs. George Stevens marked her birthday in Tucucing on February 28 with relatives and friends visiting from Beaver Cedar City and Otto Wyoming. The gathering included four generations and gifts. Gordon Halterman, son of Mrs. Marion Halterman, recently finished Salt Lake Barber College and plans to enter beauty school after a weekend visit home. Mrs. J Alma Benson and daughter Vee Aun traveled to Salt Lake City with Sherman Dalton to visit for a few days with Effie Boduregard. Albert Mortensen and family returned from Long Beach California where they visited Ivy McCoy and granddaughter Suzanne, who had been sick but improved. Don Lyman of the Army Air Corps spent a week in Parowan with Mayor Ray Lyman’s family. Claude Burton and wife went to Salt Lake City for business and to attend major basketball games. Parowan High School Male Quartet sang on KS.B radio with instructor Howard Low and accompanist Mary Lyman. Members were Chad Orton, Freq Dalton, Jay Winter, and Mack Lyman. The Desert Song and other numbers were performed. Eva Taylor has returned.

The display features local clay, glazes, slip ware, vases, jewelry boxes, dishes, figurines, and color experiments, highlighting community talent and amateur artistry nurtured by adult education classes and a 350 electric kiln and large mixer supplied by the school Board of Education.
