Miners Escape Serious Injury In Hit Run Crash
Six Parowan and Paragonah men narrowly escaped serious injury when their car veered off Tron Mountain road ten miles west of Cedar City after being struck by an unidentified red truck. Claude Jensen suffered severe injuries including a crushed left arm and leg. others had minor bruises. Vehicle left side torn, truck fled toward Cedar City as sheriff investigates.

City Council Holds Special Meeting on Fire Equipment Bid Review
Parowut City Council met in a special session Wednesday night to review five bids for new fire equipment and to handle other matters. Mayor E. Ray Lyman said a decision will be delayed for days pending investigation and a fire engineer’s check. The council also appointed Harrell Dalton as city foreman to replace Ray H. Adams, who resigned. Miner Leonard Dalton Killed in Desert Mound Crash
Leonard Dalton aged 27 of Parowan died at about noon after a loaded truck collided with an empty truck at a Desert Mound road crossing in Ueleon County. Petterson, driver of the second truck, was seriously injured and transported to Iron County Hospital. Sheriff Arthur Nelson investigates the incident, which happened at a Desert Mound excavation site run by Utah Construction Co. Dalton, born December 31, 1922, served three years in the Eighth Air Force and is survived by his wife Greta Davenport, his mother, a daughter Mary Ann, four brothers Karl Ronald Elmer Sherman, three sisters, and several relatives. Funeral services set for Friday at 2 p.m. in Parowan West Ward Chapel. Burial in Parowan City Cemetery.
