Parowan City Plans Independence Day Celebration
The Parowan City Council met Saturday night to outline July 4 activities. The American Legion Post No 20 will run a morning program. Ladies Clubs organize a miniature parade. Legion Auxiliary hosts a youth sports program. The Red Hill Wranglers saddle club stage an amateur rodeo and race meet at the City race track, continuing the Memorial day event. Former Resident Arrives From Korea On Emergency Leave
Alpine N. Decker, Warrant Officer U S Army, arrived in Parawan Tuesday from Korea where he was granted emergency leave due to his sister Florence D. Corry of Cedar City being seriously ill. A 13 year veteran, Decker has served three Far East assignments and will transfer to a Stateside post soon. His wife from Louisville Kentucky has aided in care of Mrs Corry for two weeks and will return home at week’s end.

Local Couple Called To Mission Field
Elder and Mrs. Joseph E Ward of Parowan are called by Church authorities for a long term mission in the Southern States. They will reside in Salt Lake City before heading to mission headquarters in Atlanta, Ga. They have long service in ward YMMIA, Sunday School, Primary and Relief Society, with Mrs Ward active in the genealogical committee and ward leadership roles. They depart Sept 8 for the mission home and Sept 15 for Atlanta.

Swimmers to Meet Saturday Morning at Cedar City Pool
The school plans a Saturday morning swim meet at 9 00 AM at the Cedar City pool. All boys and girls will be transported to the pool for split instruction time. Interior replastering and painting, new lighting, public address system, glassed baby room, new bishop’s office, carpeted aisles, new drapes, and wiring for a pipe organ are completed.
