Wranglers Plan Two Day Events For Coming Holidays
Four noted horses in the Tri-State will race in two matched events as part of a big race meet and amateur rodeo staged by the Red Hill Wranglers on July 8. E J King heads the race meet committee with Vern Mortensen guiding rodeo entertainment. Monday features lane, riding and other equestrian events beginning at 2 30 p m with attractions designed to please horse lovers of all ages.

Primary organizations of the Parowan Wards appeal to parents to ensure children attend weekly summer meetings. Attendance has dropped about 50 percent after school dismissals, despite efforts by officers and teachers. About 65 women prepare lessons and run activities, urging children from primary age to participate at the church meeting places each week. Second Ward Primary meets 4 p.m. Monday, First and Third Wards Tuesday at 4 p.m.

New Schedule For Swimmers Announced In Cedar City Area
Paragonah Parowan Summit and Enoch youths aged 6 to 15 will ride a bus to Cedar City pool each Saturday for summer instruction starting with Paragonah at 9 45 a.m. and Parowan 10 00 a.m. Adults can attend Wednesday 10 00 a.m. to 11 00 a.m. Tickets are free from Mr Decker. Recreational swimming for adults 6 00 p.m. to 10 00 p.m. on Saturdays. Sixteen years or older are classified as adults.

Edmund Stevens Birthday Celebrated in Parowan
Edmund Stevens aged 86 celebrated at a family gathering at the home of his son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Alfred Wilcock. Born June 18 1868 in Parowan to Joseph and Lacy Stevens he later joined the LDS Church mission in Nottingham England. He married Emily Hurst in Salt Lake Temple in 1896 who died in 1901 after three daughters. he later wed Ettie West who died about 11 years ago. Surviving children include Lucy Riding Salt Lake City, Mrs Wilcock, Frank and Albert Stevens Parowan, Robert Stevens Springville, Grant Stevens Fort Riley Kansas, and Della Reed Santa Ana. Four stepdaughters, 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren survive. The note adds he has lived with family and the honor continues on the back page.
