Commissioners Put License for Canyon Pavilion at $500
Parowan area county commissioners held a lengthy session on Monday. They reduced the Parowan Canyon dance pavilion license to 500 and refused salary increases for county officials. They approved road aid for Kanarra, funded oiling of Parowan main street, and authorized private sale of tax sale properties. Nelson Holyoak became Paragonah deputy sheriff without pay. They plan to widen a concrete bridge with the State Road Commission and rejected David Matheson’s request for county aid. They considered sheep assessment protests and made several adjustments to Parowan main street assessments before adjourning to Monday.

Bank and loan men meet in town over livestock loans

Japanese Farmers Build Schoolhouse in Beryl Area
Japanese settlers in the Beryl dumping district have secured a site drilled a well and purchased materials for a schoolhouse shipped from California. They seek only a teacher this year and offer use of the building until a larger facility is needed. The school board visited Beryl and praised cooperation and local agricultural growth. Death takes little son from Page family
Following an illness that began ten days earlier, Claude Orton Page two and a half year old son of Dr and Mrs John Page died from septicemia at the county hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the West Ward chapel with a choir directed by Mr Garner and Rex C Ward singing. The community extends sympathy to the family.

Prominent St George Leader Bishop Karl Snow Dies
Bishop Karl N. Snow of St George died Sunday morning after an appendectomy. A thirty six year old educator and church leader, he served as Dean of Men at Dixie College since 1926 and was East Ward bishop and a local justice of the peace. He was married to Wanda McGregor and leaves a wife and six children. Funeral attendees included Mr and Mrs Millard Watson Cedar City and others from Parowan.
