One-Time Parowan Man Drowns In Panguitch Lake
Joseph S. Wright a 47 year old Parowan native and Nevada mine mechanic drowned when a small boat capsized during fishing on Panguitch Lake. Companion Jack Clemente survived after clinging to the overturned craft. Wright had lived in Parowan eight years, ran a cafe, and is survived by wife Vada and children Lorraine John and Cornell. Funeral services were held in Nevada.

Mrs Van Dyne Adams of this City wed Fred G Madson of Monroe in a quiet ceremony at the home of her uncle and aunt Stake President and Mrs W Clair Rowley. Sunday and Holiday mail service will resume in Parowan Mall from Cedar at 8:30 AM with daily arrivals shortly after noon. On Sundays and holidays mail departs for Cedarity at 10:00 AM with no afternoon service. Patrons must have letters in the Post Office by 11:00 PM to ensure Sunday or holiday pickup.

Mrs Bruce Decker To Head PHS Home Class
Mrs Bruce Decker Adele Levy will head the Home Making department at Parowan High School next year as the County board of education announced after its meeting Monday. The board also planned a four mill levy for school taxes to finance a county‑wide recreation program and a four percent levy for the same purpose. The Parowan High School band was approved to travel to Salt Lake City for the Pioneer Day Grade on July 24. The board approved calendar for 1943 4, including fall institute September 1, instruction begins September 7, and other holidays and exams with a budget hearing set for June 29.

Peter J. Gurr found seven fat steers from his Gurr Farms electrocuted after contacting a sagging power line four and a half miles northeast of Parowan. The incident, which involved 105 steers grazing along the old Parowan-Paragonah highway, was noticed around 6 40 a.m. by local residents using electric milking machines. Paragonah Tower reportedly maintained the line. investigation was led by Tron County Sheriff Arthur Nelson.
