Drowning at Yankee Meadow Reservoir Claims Local Youth
Gordon Mickelson aged 23 drowned last Friday evening at Yankee Meadow Reservoir while fishing with friends. He stepped into a deep hole while wading toward a boat and disappeared. Attempts by companions and bystanders to locate him failed until his body was recovered around 9:30 PM. Funeral services were held Sunday in the Wet Ward church. Mickelson, born August 14, 1918, was a lifelong resident, the son of John and Cora Mickelson, and he leaves a brother and a sister both living in the city.

Bishop T Wendell Bayles announces two special speakers Dr Wesley L Bayles of Provo and Violet Stevens of this city for the Sacrament meeting Sunday evening July 6. Special musical numbers include two songs by the chair and a vocal solo by Vilate Joseph. The meeting is in the evening due to Stake Union in the afternoon and all ward members are invited. Dr Bayles is related to the local Bayles family and recently visited to consider locating here. He is a Nebraska Medical College graduate who completed interne work in Omaha and will spend more time in town this weekend.

Chester Munford sustains mysterious head injury on Mammoth
Chester Munford of this city is hospitalized in Cedar City after a mysterious injury while herding sheep for Randall Adams on the Mammoth. He was unconscious for hours, with head trauma and severe pains, as X rays and doctors investigate the case. Witnesses Douglas Bentley and Gren Stevens stayed with him Tuesday night before he was found unconscious.

August Potato Market Outlook Favorable
Information from Los Angeles brokers relayed to the County Agent indicates a very favorable August potato market, especially in the east. County crops are largely excellent with some patches at good to fair. Wilford Day of Parowan leads acreage with eighty acres of pre-season potatoes, all in very excellent condition. Other growers Royce B Nelson Corry and Davis and Fred Berry in Cedar City also report excellent potatoes. Mrs. Edgar Henson returned from California where she visited with her daughters Org Fraver and Iva Bradshaw. Adrienne Mickelson came home from Terris, California to visit relatives.
