LeMey Stubbs son of Mr and Mrs Clifford Stubbs wed Miss Anna Pendleton daughter of Mr and Mrs John H Pendleton in the St George temple with President Snow performing. After a brief wedding trip they return home this afternoon. Both former local high school students with Pendleton having spent time in Ames Iowa. A reception is planned this evening at the West Ward recreation hall with relatives and friends urged to attend.

Legion And Auxiliary Name New Officers
New officers were named by the Parowan Post of the American Legion and the Legion Auxiliary during a supper and outing at Vermilion Castle Forest camp last Tuesday evening. Elections were held with the Legion choosing Witton as Post Commander and Taylor Miller as acting for the past year, plus officers T A Topham Roy Moore Ray D Garner Webster Bettridge Taylor Miller A B Matheson and W Clair Rowley. Auxiliary officers named were Berta B Mitchell Grace Hurt W Bettridge Alice Garner Alice Dalton Fiona Cartwright and Tune Orton. Both groups will install their officers at a September meeting, followed by camp fire circle singing and stories.

A crew of local and transient pickers gathered Thursday afternoon at H. L. Adams farm to harvest the first peas of the season. The total hampers aren’t reported yet but main harvesting is expected to begin Monday on early pea crops. Fire threat leans on Garner barn blaze near calf branding
Late Sunday a small fire broke at the Ray D. Garner residence barn. Mr Garner spotted flames from the corner, contained them with dirt, and triggered an alarm by Mrs Garner. The fire originated from live coals from a branding attempt by Garner children using crayons. Had it not been discovered soon, the barn could have burned.

Obituary of Sarah Orton in Parowan Church Service
Sarah Ann Taylor Orton 74 wife of Samuel T. Orton died at home after a long illness. Funeral Sunday at 3:30 in West Ward chapel with Arnold Stevens in charge. Survivors include husband four sons Oscar Lorin Claude and Arnold, daughter Beatrice Thorley, 21 grandchildren, and siblings. Funeral rites included choir and multiple musical performances.

Open House for R H Benson Birthday in Parowan
Open house to honor Richard Heber Benson on his 10th birthday observance at his Parowan home Monday from 1 to 6 pm. Benson, last Pioneer of Parowan and last Indian War veteran in the county, born July 17 1649 in Alton Illinois, moved to Utah as a child, married Elizabeth Grimshaw October 24 168. They had twelve children, eight living, including Ella Hensel Seattle Maude McDonald Hayward Lena Johnson Alice Dalton Bert Benson Elizabeth Johnson and Mary Orton Parowan. He has 26 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. His wife died March 12 123.
