Dean B Tinkler Death Follows Long Illness in Parowan

Funeral services were held in Las Vegas for Mrs. Madora Ikani Tinkler, who died July 4 after a lengthy illness. Born March 26, 1884 in Parowan, she lived there, married three times, and was active in LDS and Daughters of Utah Pioneers groups. Survived by husband, two sons, four daughters, three grandchildren and many relatives. Funeral rites conducted in Las Vegas with services in Parowan.

Valley Forge Carrier Returns From Korea After Seven Months

Service men aboard the USS Valley Forge dock in San Diego on July 1 after seven months in the Far East. The 27,000 ton carrier has logged over 6,000 combat missions and supported Air Task Group One in Korea. John T. Lawrence of Summit Utah is named as an ISN apprentice in the crew. Gordon Halterman has orders to remain overseas on Ruajaluri Island after extensive duty in the Pacific theater.

O N O Club Hosts Sew and Visit Evenings

Mrs Kathleen Clark hosted the O N O Club at her home last week with sewing and visiting followed by refreshments. Later Mrs Carma Evans and Mrs Hazel Dawn Evans hosted a supper at the Five Mile Camp for club members.

Mrs Arvilla Mortensen announced a party for all Primary age children in Hevand Ward during the regular Primary meeting Monday afternoon. Children aged four to eleven are invited. games will be played and refreshments served.

William K. R. Palmer of Cedar City former Parowan Stake president and Utah history authority will be guest speaker at the Parowan Third Ward Sacrament Meeting Sunday. Arnold Gurr of the Bishopric says the service begins at 2 p.m. and all are invited.

Parowan Post of the American Legion will hold its annual election of officers at the Tron County Court House on July 22 at 8:00 pm. Members are urged to vote for next year’s leaders.

The Clover Claoh met at Mrs. Dixie Evang s home to finalize plans for the Duck Creek outing this week. Harriet Humphrys returns from California and Texas. Busy Homemakers 4-H Chile held its 7th meeting at Sandra Robinson s home to discuss the Duck Creek trip and camp fire program. All the girls will attend Thurs day through Saturday. The Good Luck Club met at Madalyn Leigh and leaders Barbara Jean Wiltsey and Dorothy Simkins homes to finalize preparations for the Duck Creek weekend trip.

Clifford J Stubbs Dies After Heart Ailment Parowan Fireworkman

Clifford Jesse Stubble 62 of Parowan died Sunday night in Iron County Hospital from a chronic heart ailment. Funeral Wednesday in First Second Ward Chapel conducted by John H. Pendleton. Survived by widow, five of six children and many relatives in Parowan and Everett Washington.

Hulet Family Welcomes Granddaughter in Wyoming

Mr and Mrs RR Wallace Hulet of Parowan announce the arrival of another granddaughter in Powell Wyoming on July 1. The nine member family now includes George Kathy 4 and Joan 2 brothers Kenneth 6 and Arley George in Bountiful. Lions' Club Slates Ladies' Night in Parowan Canyon

The Parowan Lions' Club plans a Ladies' Night on July 71 at the Pye Aiihe in Parowan Canyon. W. Scott Mitchell, president, says supper and a special program will be provided. Paragonah Girl Receives Merit Certificate and Cash Award

Mixes La Jean Hunt of Denver daughter of Mr and Mrs Merlin Hunt of Paragonah has earned a merit for creative thinking with a cash prize. She works as a secretary in Gates Slubber Co Engineering office, part of Denver's largest industry with seven thousand workers and fourteen hundred office staff. Her suggestion to improve company bookkeeping earned her 309 dollars the largest award in her department, and a company newspaper photograph. She has worked there for over a year.

Paragonah Fourth Of July Observance Recalls Independence Day

Paragonah held a public meeting on the Fourth of July week with a crowd assembled for a community program. Hetty Jean Builth as the “idol of Liberty,” Anna Talbot as “Mime Utah,” and Clifford Robb as “Uncle Sam” performed with Alta Alton delivering the oration. After the meeting, attendees socialized on the lawn. Earl Thornton and his wife led the organizing committee for the event.

Miss Ethel Mur Adair and Mr Elwyn H Mall were married June 20 in the Manti Temple. The bride, daughter of Ivor Adair of Colorado and the late Mrs Retey J. Loordman, is a former Parowan High School student and BYU graduate who taught in northern Utah before marriage.

Funeral rites for Moreni girl Draper held Thursday

Local residents attend services for LaRetta Draper 14 of Moreni who died Monday after a long illness at Mt Plemeai hospital. Draper, born January 30, 1998, was daughter of Mrs Rebraham Draper and the late Misha Peggton T. Draper. She attended Meroni High School and was active in church and community activities. Her half sister, Mrs. Grade E. Smith, and Mr. Jay Wo Moore left early Thursday to attend the services.

Frankie Lou Burton Weds Ramon J Bentley at Parowan Home

Frankie Lou Burton became Mrs Ramon J Bentley in a July ceremony at the Burton home attended by family and close friends. The bride wore lace and nylon, carried white gladiolus, and received a reception with many bridesmaids and guests. Afterward the couple left for a Lake Tahoe honeymoon. both have local schooling and occupations noted, with Bentley in the U.S. Army Medical Unit. Continued on back page.
