Iron County regains second class status based on assessed valuation figures released by the County Treasurer. Total base valuation for 1964 reaches 39,619,798 with public utilities added, up from 1952 and 1954 figures. Railroads, power, telephone and others drive the rise. regular property valuations show a slight decrease. County salary schedules depend on the classification.

Daughter of Former Residents Graduates From Stanford
Dorothy Dodge daughter of Keith and LaVerd Adama Dodge of Susanville California earned a bachelor degree in Journalism at Stanford University in Palo Alto. She graduated with honors as one of two senior women to receive American Association of University Women membership and won the Professional Journalistic Award for top grades in the journalism department. Dodge participated in Stanford Daily staff roles and worked in radio in Susanville this summer. She plans to study journalism at Columbia in New York City starting September. Her parents attended the commencement and related events. Mrs. Dodge is sister to Hugh L Albert Anna and Eva Adama of Susanville.

Descendants of George Alma Lowe Sr and Harriet Allen Lowe from Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, California, and Utah gathered in Parowan July 3 4 and 6 for the first reunion. About 214 attended with events at Five Mile recreation camp and the First Second Ward church. Officials elected included Mrs. Lia Lowe Bauer president and Alma Lowe secretary-treasurer. Prominent Utah educator churchman and patriarch of the Provo Stake, Dr Amos N Merrill died at Utah Valley Hospital after surgery for an intestinal obstruction following a California vacation. He served in LDS church leadership roles and taught secondary educational training. Survived by six children, two died young, five living in California, Utah and Nevada. funeral held at Berg Mortuary with burial at Provo City Cemetery.

Mr and Mrs Albert Mickelson spent the North holidays with family in Flagstaff Arizona where they witnessed the Indian dances and pow wow. Mr and Mrs Nahe Henson and family of Henderson Nevada visited that weekend with the Phil people in Mapleton, Hidlop and Mrs. Morria Rowley and family of Mesquite Nevada. Visited last week in Parowan with the Rowley and Miller families. The Bensons of Carowan older son Kelvin remained longer with grandparents Ralph and Sara Baines of Salt Lake City. Mr and Mrs Lawrence Miller in the LDS hospital in Salt Lake City underwent a major surgery Monday morning, a $44 bowl operation, still serious. Golden Boyles hosted guests in Parowan and Summit. Lyon Cowdell family and Ernest Cowell of Los Angeles returned home Sunday. Mra Gwen Jones enjoyed a visit in San Francisco. Mins Mary Bill Stevens will visit Salt Lake City for a week. Men Thales Brown and children returned to Parowan after two months. Tommy Henson spending days at Parowan with grandparents Arch Benson and will return to Phoenix. David Wilkerson, University medical student, spending summer in Parowan with R. T. Wilkersons. Mrs Isabelle Daniels of Alhambra California visiting Parowan for the Halterman relatives.
