Newly elected County Commissioners Warren H. Bulloch and Collins Douglas Clark of Cedar City sworn in Monday morning by County Clerk W Clair Rowley. Bulloch fills four year term succeeding retiring Charles R B Monter, while Clark replaces Richard H Leigh after the November election. Both bring active civic involvement. The County Commission completed its 1948 final meeting by approving a 1949 budget of 234,385.56 dollars, about 16 thousand more than the previous year. Increases cover airport 7,000, County Road 1,590, County library 1,000, Indigent fund 2, and general fund about 4,000.

Esther Orton’s 87th Birthday Observed by Family
Esther Orton born December 23, 1861 in Virgin Washington Do. daughter of Joel H. and Margaret Threlkeld Johnson. She married Samuel T. Orton in 1877 then William O. Orton in 1910. Widowed, she lived in Parowan and reared ten children with a large posterity of 45 grandchildren and 68 great grandchildren.

Electric shut off cripples daily life across towns
An electric power outage from 5:00 to 10:00 a m disrupted homes schools and businesses Wednesday morning. Stoves heat and refrigeration failed as line crews traced the fault to the Southern Utah Line between Summit and the Burton Sub-station. Parowan connected to Telluride Power during the day to restore service.

Rams Open League Play In Fillmore Tonight
