Parowan City Opens New Administration with First Meeting
Parowan’s new city administration took over last Monday at noon and held its first year meeting Tuesday evening. Mayor W Scott Mitchell named standing committees and appointed city officers with council approval. Changes were minor. Clarke Parcells became city attorney and Lu Jin Ort on Justice of the Peace. Snow removal plans explored using a tractor due to horses impractical, with ditches filled temporarily in unpaved sections. Iron County draft call affects Parowan. 28 men notified for December induction, including several local residents and former Parowan natives. Two local youths joined Navy awaiting examination results. Induction calls expected to be lighter in coming months. those called return midweek for final processing depending on service branch.

County Board Adopts Budget For 1944
Iron County commissioners adopted a 1944 budget totaling 141 259 32 with a public hearing held at 10 a.m. no protests offered and the session adjourned at 2 p.m. The county hospital faced the largest cut 46000 for operation leaving a 2772 36 surplus. The general fund cut to 39172 40 leaving a 107 65 surplus, with 15567 40 for officers services and weed eradication.
