Military Church Rites Honor Quentin Page
A large service honored John Quentin Page son of Mr and Mrs. John G Page. He was lost in a 1943 Solomon Islands battle and declared dead by the Navy after a year. The rites were led by Parowan Post American Legion with Westward bishopric. A color guard, mixed quartets, solos and prayers filled the chapel and cemetery with a 21 gun salute and taps. The flag was presented to the Page family by Legion Commander Lorin S Orton.

Road Patrol Warns Utah Drivers of License Plate Deadline
Sgt Adams of the Utah Highway Patrol warns motorists the deadline for using 1946 license plates is February 28. Starting March 1, cars with last year plates will be stopped and owners arrested until new plates are obtained. Legislature alone can extend deadlines, but none is expected this year.

Reservoir Company Names Board At Annual Meeting
At the Parowan Reservoir Company annual meeting, board members were chosen for the North, West, and South fields plus the city representative. The group will select officers later. An assessment of fifty cents per share was levied to cover pumping equipment deficits and current maintenance. Plans include restoring the dam at Robinson site and exploring Braffits canyon dam feasibility, with a committee to study the project and recommend. A search for a caterpillar tractor and bulldozer for ditch and reservoir work was authorized.

Iron County Fair Dates Set for September 5 6 and 7
At a general committee meeting the Iron County Fair announced this year’s event dates as Thursday September 5 Friday September 6 and Saturday September 7. Committee rosters were incomplete so an extra month was given to finalize sub chairmen and assistants. Fair Chairman Thales Brown named Ivan Decker to solicit advertising for the premium list to be circulated to exhibitors within two to three months. The next fair committee meeting is planned for the week of March 18 to review and approve sub committees.
Parowan and Cedar Wards Plan Mutual Improvement Plays
Parowan West and Cedar Second ward Mutual Improvement Associations will exchange plays Tuesday evening. West ward’s Full of Youth, directed by May Burt, will be shown in Cedar Second ward recreation hall. Cedar Second ward will perform for Parowan in the West ward recreation hall at 8 o’clock. East ward MIA officers say no meeting that evening.

Military service set for Austin Halterman Sunday afternoon
Austin Halterman son of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Halterman will receive a full military memorial service on Sunday at 2 30 in the West ward chapel. World War I Legionaires and World War II veterans will join the program with Austin's widow Mrs. Wilman Halterman of Maywood California expected to attend. Halterman landed in the Philippines on October 24, 1941 and was captured in 1942. He died on October 24, 1944, the day after his 26th birthday, when a Japanese prison ship sank after nearly three years as a prisoner.

The Ag Parents and Sons Banquet held last Saturday evening February 16 drew strong participation. Master of Ceremonies Clayton Tullis and banquet chair Willard Decker led the event, Oleen Hatch previewed chapter activities, two musical numbers were performed by June Decker and Frankie Lou Burton, and Superintendent Wright with school board members attended and spoke.
