Immunization Clinic Set For Next Monday And Follow Up

A second diphtheria immunization clinic will be held Thursday June 6 at the elementary school from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The State Board of Health offers the vaccine free of charge, paying the physician’s fee, to immunize infants and preschool children. Some have had one dose. two doses provide longer protection. A small charge covers material used for school children. Community groups help fund the doctor’s time. Also noted: a New Year’s Eve chase near the Library, several local families visiting California for holidays, and a new baby born December 30 at the county hospital.

City Officials to Take Oath Monday and Swear In

Re-elected and new city officials will qualify at noon on Monday January. The old council will meet briefly to approve bonds and turn over administration. New faces include Joseph Nolyoak S Halterman and Whitney while retiring are Adams Pendleton and Edward Matheson. Mayor Hatch expects few changes aside from possible marshal shift to Tigrel Dalton amid campaign opposition and ongoing city business.

Paros Wan Gun and Rod Club to Elect Officers Thursday

The Paros wan Gun and Rod Club will hold its annual meeting Thursday evening January 11 at Taylor's Cafe to elect officers for the coming year and hear a report of the year's activities. A luncheon will follow at 25 cents per plate for members, with options for nonmembers and past dancers to join. A new officer slate includes president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and three board members. Former Parowan Boy Married in Cedar City

Lawrence Lowder aged about sixty and Mina Edith Dix daughter of Cedar City residents were wed Tuesday evening at the groom’s Cedar City home in a ceremony conducted by Bishop Frank B. Wood. The couple will reside in Cedar City where Lowder works for Lunt Motor Co.

Sheriff Christensen Leaves for Training in Washington

County sheriff Maldown will leave early next week for Washington DC to enter a special school for training police officers to handle modern crime. He will be away over two months, with deputy Bill Dalton in charge. County Commissioners previously approved submitting to the school and earmarked 400 for expenses.

Conservation payments to be here by few

County Soil Conservation Committees led by Hugh Adams J M Palmer and T W Robb met with the County Agent to prepare farm and range work sheets for corrected acreages and number of farms. Payments for cooperation in the 1932 program likely arrive late January or early February. Range cooperators have until December 31 to complete projects.

County adopts 1948 budget amid hearing and road pact

The county approved the 1948 budget totaling about 98 477 dollars with the general fund allocating 28 274 dollars for salaries and expenses. Hospital operation gets 26 500 dollars, road funds 15 000, debt service 13 327, and public assistance 9 506, plus smaller amounts for library indigent and dependent mothers. The board also granted a franchise and right of way easement to American Telephone Co for a Newcastle to weather reporting line near the air field.

In a separate case a vehicle theft charge involved Warren Alger held in the County Jail awaiting district court, bond set at 300 not yet furnished, after a car owned by Marion Whitney was wrecked near the Brown Derby skating rink. Mr and Mrs Samuel Humphrys joined Salt Lake City visitors for the New Year weekend with the Delton family. Garth returned with Miss Aston Ryans who has been employed at Freya for months. Arch Bounon warned about missing items from his property in a terse note printed with little context.
