City council makes major changes in official family
At a regular year end meeting City of L City officials were shuffled. Arhangel was named superintendent of the water system after a resignation, with M L Skougard keeping the post previously held. John H Pendleton was chosen as successor to the former superintendent. Samuel J Whitney was appointed librarian caretaker replacing Anthony Paxton who plans to retire. Attorney A M Jareden was named city attorney, replacing Durham Morrin. City Marshal Harrell Dalton and Justice H C Parselly were reappointed to their posts. The rest of the lineup remained. The water and power superintendent and plant operators were left in place for the moment. A possible future appointment of city works superintendent was discussed, likely to be filled by the marshal or water superintendent, with duties including project oversight and monthly reports. The council adjourned to meet again next Tuesday.

Local Couple Married in Manti Temple
Mr. Howard Joseph and Vilate Crawford were married Thursday morning in the Manti Temple. They left for Salt Lake City for a brief honeymoon and will reside locally. Both are high school graduates. Joseph is elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Joseph. Vilate is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Crawford and has served as deputy county clerk. Their parents joined them to Manti and visited Ballin on the way home.

Parowan plans a January 13 observance for its settlement anniversary. The Daughters of the Pioneers will host a morning meeting, a 65 and over banquette, and an afternoon program with dancing and a genealogy pageant. City and former residents are invited to attend.

Parowan Gap Rod Club Elects 1938 Officers
At Taylor's Cafe the Parowan Gap and Rod club elected new officers for 1938. Ray J. Adams was reelected president Roy Benson is vice president Morris Rasmussen secretary James Alma Benson treasurer with Ralph Bittchell, Benson and Bernard Stubbs on the board Roy Benson and Ralph Mitchell remain on the board from last year. The meeting featured a year-in-review report by Adams talks by Tl L Penton and Mayor A G Match a piano solo by Claude Burton a solo by Kula D Orton and a group song. The club has about 70 members with 46 attending the luncheon and meeting Thursday evening.

Funeral Services Held For James A Hyatt
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning in the West Ward chapel for James A Hyatt who died after weeks of illness. The service featured a choir, prayers by local clergy, and remarks praising his character. Hyatt, born October 23, 1863 in Parowan, lived in Parowan most his life and worked as a farmer, stockraiser, and Parowan City Electric Plant operator. He married Mellisa Davenport in 1890. she died in 1937. He is survived by eleven children, nineteen grandchildren, and several siblings and inlaws.

William Adams, Longtime Parowan Leader, Dies at 82
William Adams, 82, respected Parowan community figure and last surviving brother in the Adams family, died Saturday night. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the East Ward chapel with Bishop Will E. Adams presiding.
