Local resident Lyman Rites Marked with Musical Tributes

Funeral services were held for Amelia Burton Lyman, longtime resident and church worker, with music by the Wheat Ward Chapel choir and a procession of speakers praising her community efforts. She survived by her husband and eight children, 22 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren, with many relatives listed. Holiday season entertainment plans across wards include dances, a Christmas tree, and a large New Year’s Eve ball at the high school gym.

Parowan Girl and Cedar Boy Wed in Quiet Ceremony

Miss Pearl Fettridge of Parowan and Roscoe Leigh of Cedar City were married Wednesday evening at a small home ceremony conducted by Bishop Mugh Adams. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Dettridge. the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Yaniel W. Leigh. They plan to settle in Parowan or Cedar City.

Doings At School Features and Student Activities

The Parowan High School scene includes faculty meetings, home official assignments for league games, and praise for Miss Sundberg and the cast after Friday’s play. Farewell to Departing Missionary to Be Held

A farewell party for Elder Roy Adama, son of Bishop Huch 1 Adama, is set for Tuesday evening at West Ward Church. He departs for the L.D.S. East Central states mission with headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky, and will report to the Salt Lake City mission home Monday in January. The event includes a program in the chapel and social gathering in the recreation hall, with various local musical numbers and short talks. a magazine volley is being prepared for presentation at a later time.

Christmas Tree Program Set Friday Night in East Ward

A city Christmas tree program for all children will be held Friday at 7 in East Ward chapel. The Hy recreation leaders arrange activities with child members of local clans under direction. Santa Claus will distribute candy. Primary teachers from two local organizations assist. The program includes songs, prayers, a Christmas tale, and a Santa Claus arrival. East Ward Heller Society notes it will skip its regular meeting during the holiday week.

Parowan City Council approves 1938 budget ordinance

At a special meeting the Parowan City Council passed the 1938 budget appropriation ordinance after minor changes by the mayor and recorder. The total expenditures total 91 355.60, about 3 070.24 more than last year, with increases mainly in usercat and sinking fund accounts to cover deficits and keep accounts solvent. The council adjourned to reconvene in January as the new administration takes over. Visitors included Mr and Mrs Eugene Morris, George Wimmer, Warren Winner, Mrs Wilma McCarty, and Mr and Mrs Randall Banks and family.
