Parowan High Junior Class Sells Christmas Seals

Mrs. Arthur Joseph announces Parowan High School junior class led by Bob Miller conducted a Christmas Seal Sale. Seals worth $18 were sold, with proceeds helping fund tuberculosis tests for Patch program participants and defraying test expenses. Some mail recipients receive seals by mail, though that practice is fading.

Memorial Services for Eugene W Lowder Held

Memorial services were held Saturday in the East ward chapel for Private First Class Eugene W Lowder who died November 25 in Tunisia while serving with the American Army. Bishop Jess Guymon presided with Parowan Post No 20 American Legion conducting and a mixed quartet performing. A War Department letter to Mrs Minnie W Lowder detailing his death was read, and the service closed with final prayers.

Hunters Bag Two Lions in Parowan Mountains

Carlyle Dalton with John Dalton and Steve Matthes hunted in Parowan Mountains for a week, taking a male lion eight foot four inches and a female six feet six inches after dogs treed them. The first towered Hen Drickson's Hill and the second in Summit canyon, both late at night. Utah hunters Adrian Ahlstrom and Clayton Kofford were asked by Fish and Wildlife Service to supply lion specimens for the Carnegie Museum, with skins skulls and data required.
