Eugene M. Orton was elected president of the Parowan Gun and Rod Club at last week’s elections. He will succeed Joe Benson at year’s start. Ralph Orton becomes vice president, Leonard Orton is re-elected secretary, and Duane Van Ausdal continues as treasurer. Elmer Mitchell retires as vice president. Board members named include Dr R T Wilkerson and Howard Ward, with the retiring president to serve as third member.

Parowan Students Head Home For Holidays Gatherings
Parowan students studying at Wyoming Utah State and BYU return for Christmas. Maxine Rasmussen visits family in Parowan then Provo while Marilyn Ward travels with a friend to join her parents in Parowan. Other local students from Utah State BYU and Cedar City prepare for holiday gatherings with family and friends.
Parowan Personal News Notes Mixed Holiday Visits
Visiting in Parowan last week end as guests at the Jess Guy mon home were their son and daughter-in-law Lloyd and Mary Lou Guymon and children of Henderson Nevada. Arthur Robinson is thought to be recovering satisfactorily now after additional surgery at Iron County Hospital last week. A large abscess formed after peritonitis and caused ongoing trouble following a ruptured stomach ulcer. Mrs A C Hatch traveled to Salt Lake City to attend funeral services for her uncle Joseph M Stahl 74 the last surviving member of her grandfather's immediate family. Services were at Larkin Mortuary with burial in Brigham City cemetery. Mr and Mrs Donald Knight of Lakeshore Utah County visited Parowan last week as guests of Bishop and Mrs Howard Knight. A brother of the Bishop was a speaker during the First Ward Sacrament meeting. Commissioner and Mrs Jess Guyman were business visitors to Salt Lake City. Mrs Merlin Evans Patterson of Beaver was a business visitor in Parowan Monday and Tuesday. Mr and Mrs Lynn Mortensen and their children from Port Angeles Washington arrived in Parowan to spend Christmas with Lynn's folks the Frank Mortensens. They plan to spend the latter portion of the holidays with Lou Etta's folks in Salt Lake City. Lynn is now a District Scout Executive in Washington. Lyle Morris of Provo visited last week at the home of his parents Mr and Mrs Hay Morris. Veil Taylor and his parents traveled to Salt Lake City last week. Continued on back page.

Richard O Batt son of Mrs Calma Batt and the late Richard Batt arrived Monday for Christmas in Parowan. He traveled from the Rantoul Airbase to Salt Lake City by train and flew home with Melvin Reeves who visited his grandparents the Scott Ortons. Cpl Delmar Gurr, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, also returns for the holiday to see his new little brother and Elmer Gurr family.
