Parowan High opened with a first practice game against Panguitch last night, Parowan winning 34 to 28. A. Watters led the Rams with a solid all around performance, while Sans and Markie contributed offensively and defensively. Mr and Mrs George Rowley prepare to report to the Southern States Mission of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Atlanta Georgia. They were welcomed by High Priests and Ward leaders at the West Ward Chapel Seation Hall. The event featured opening remarks by Stake President W Wiley and Bishop W Leon and included vocal solos. The couple are both workers in the Church and have served in the Church.

Former Parowan Woman Dies After Moab Car Crash
Edith A. Butt formerly of Parowan died from injuries after a Dec 1 1948 highway wreck near Moab Utah. She was 72 and a mother and relative to Alma Reiske and Mildred Cortez among others. Her passing followed a brief decline after the accident.

Buried Here Today Lieut Lenard Hulet World War II Hero
Graveside services for Lieut Lenard Elliot Hulet of Parowan are today at 2 p m in Papowyn City Cemetery under West Ward Bishopric with American Legion burial rites. Hulet, a glider pilot in the 9th Air Corps, died March 24 1945 covering Rhine medical personnel. He served since 1941, trained at Moffat Field and Merced, joined glider troops in 1942, went overseas in 1944, and fought in Normandy Southern France Arnhem and the crossing. He earned a Presidential citation two air medals four oak leaf clusters four campaign stars and posthumously the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Dr. Peterson will depart Parowan after the new year to pursue specialty training in obstetrics and women's diseases at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago through the University of Illinois program. Elder Bernell Evans Returns From Foreign Mission
Elder Bernell Ward Evans, son of Bishop and Mrs. W. Leonard Evans of Parowan, returned home after two years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He arrived Nov. 21 aboard the S S Washington at Harrisburg, met by his sister Alberta Evans, and spent Thanksgiving with friends Dr. and Mrs. Petersen in Lewiston, Pennsylvania. They traveled to Washington, D C and visited Virginia and Maryland, then relayed to Salt Lake and Bountiful before returning home. He entered the mission field November 13, 1946, spending the first seven months in the Eastern States.
