Norman Day, a Parowan farmer and sportsman, was elected president of the Parowan Gun and Red Club at a special Monday evening election. He succeeds Robert B. Mitchell, who led the club for the past year. Parowan matron Mary Orton Mitchell marked her second birthday anniversary with family Sunday at her home. A lifelong Parowan resident, widow of Walter C. Mitchell, she has served as an LDS Church activist in Primary and Relief Society and completed a mission in California with her husband. She has five sons, three daughters, 28 grandchildren, and 42 great grandchildren.

Iron County Treasurer Clair Hulet reported 94 percent of 1952 taxes paid by Tuesday, with many postmarks before the November 29 delinquent date. Total levied taxes rose 11 percent from last year due to mine value growth, despite lower per‑bill amounts. The Columbia Iron Mining Co. led payments at 7276,984.82. Delinquent lists publish next week. payments before January 10 incur 2 percent penalty plus advertising costs. After January 10, interest and redemption costs apply.

Two Local Men Injured In Highway Mishap
Two Parowan residents were injured when a 1949 Plymouth Sedan left Highway 9 near Leeds after midnight Friday. Charles Dalton 22 and James Moria were taken to Dixie Memorial Hospital St George with head and scalp wounds. Don Kirkpatrick escaped injury as the driver.

Margaret Ellen Kulb Robinson of Paragonah died Tuesday December 5 at her daughter’s Cedar City home after a long illness. Born July 6, 1884, in Paragonah to Alexander and Ellen Robb, she married Hyrum B. Robinson June 29, 1904 and later at the St George Temple December 30, 1925. Survived by husband, two sons Revere and Victor, two daughters Dora Wade and Myda Osborne, 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, siblings and other relatives. Funeral set for Paragonah Ward Chapel Friday at 1:30 p.m. Friends may call Thursday evening and prior to services.
